Prayer

Prayer is something that will most likely be apart of every component of the body, but is often something that is very lifeless and routine. Prayer must become an active part of any body, and must be a priority in any group. We cannot expect for God to work if we are not willing to communicate with him.

Prayer walking and prayer gatherings are a couple of ways we incorporate prayer into jf5.

Here is a prayer guide for a small group setting:

  • Acknowledge God’s presence in the group. Use words of praise and adoration to help focus the group on communicating with the Lord.
  • Pray short prayers of one, two or three sentences.
  • Pray about one subject, person, or idea at a time until everyone has shared as prompted by the Spirit.
  • Be reluctant to change the subject as you would in any conversation until everyone is finished with it.
  • Times of silence can give the timid and the thoughtful time to contribute. (Silence is OKAY)
  • The more communication with God a group has, the deeper the intimacy. In time a small group becomes totally unified and purely transparent.
  • Watch God’s love flow freely. Lives will be transformed and answers to prayers will be seen.
