Discipleship

Discipleship is where the substance in your body is really produced. When people begin to sharpen one another, and hold each other accountable, God begins to work. The idea of a body is that the believers are joined together by a relationship. Not just a how ya doing on Sunday morning kind of a relationship, but a rejoicing, struggling, praying, serving one another kind of a relationship.

Discipleship can look a lot of different ways, but the root has to stay the same. It must be about knowing the word, making disciples, and being invested with disciples.

We push the idea of meeting up once a week as a group of 2 or 3 to invest in one another. It usually consists of some reading and discussion of the word, talking about how your week has gone, and maybe some prayer for each other.

Here is a start:

  • What has the world been dumping on you this week?
  • What has God been doing/teaching/providing in your life this week?
  • What have you been reading this week? What was the best thing God communicated to you through the word? How does it apply to your life?
  • Who do you want to serve or show Christ to this week?
  • How Christ like have you been in the following areas:
    • Have your words and actions honored Christ?
    • Have you trusted God rather than worrying?
    • Have you had struggles in any specific area this week?
  • Have you been thankful in all things this week? 1 Thess. 5:16-18
  • Take time to pray for one another about shared needs and names.
